How the scanner works
Crafting any complete card set into a badge grants exactly 100 XP, whatever the set cost. So a set worth $12 and a set worth $0.30 are worth identical XP, and the only question that matters is what your cards could buy instead. That is the comparison this tool runs across everything you own.
Most inventories are mostly partial sets — cards from dozens of games, complete sets from almost none. That is not a problem to fix, it is just how card drops work, and it is why the scanner leads with what you are closest to finishing rather than with sets you may not have. Finishing a set you are one card away from is the cheapest XP available to you.
We read your inventory through Steam's own public endpoint, the same one any Steam user could see. The result is held in memory for about fifteen minutes so a repeat check is instant, then it is gone — and a restart clears it sooner. It is never saved to our database. You can only ever scan your own account, and we never see your password.
Two limits worth knowing. Very large inventories are scanned in part rather than in full, and we say so when that happens. And scans are capped overall: Steam limits how often inventories can be read, and we share that allowance with the bot that delivers orders — so free scans are never allowed to slow down a paying customer's delivery.
Foil cards are counted but not priced here. A foil badge grants the same 100 XP as a normal one while foil sets cost far more, so they are almost always worth selling rather than crafting — we just do not trade them ourselves.
